Directions and maps to Beavers Bend State Park and Broken Bow Lake

Maps & Directions

The location of Broken Bow and Beavers Bend State Park, Oklahoma make it easily accessible for travelers coming from both Dallas and Oklahoma City. When traveling from Dallas, there are several options. If you are located in the northern suburbs, such as Allen or Mckinney, you may want to drive northeast on HWY 121 through Bonham, TX. If you live in Dallas or the eastern suburbs, you can simply take I-30 east to Mt.Vernon, TX.

 

Northern Dallas Suburbs - Directions:

Take hwy 121 to Bonham, TX. Just north of Bonham, you will take HWY 82 due east until you reach Paris, TX. Here you will run into loop 286. Take the loop north. This will lead you around to the northeast side of the city, where you will then take FM 195 northeast.

This is a beautiful, well maintained road that leads through several small communities. It is full of sharp and blind turns, but the surface is smooth and there are small shoulders. Use caution at night, as wildlife prospers throughout this rural area. Also, there are several turns you will have to make to stay on FM 195, have your GPS or detailed map handy. After the first trip up FM 195, you will have no issues finding your way.

FM 195 will hit HWY 37 that runs north and south. Turn left or north here. It will be a short distance south of the Red River. Hwy 37 will lead all the way to Idabel, OK.

When coming into Idabel, you will hit a four-way stop sign next to the auction house and Shell gas station. This is a loop that goes around the city also known as HWY 70. If you take it to your left, you will completely by-pass all of the city. The posted signs aren't too clear. Stay on loop hwy 70 and just after the railroad crossing, you have a stop sign at a large highway. This is the main HWY 70. Travel straight through after stopping. This begins the newest section of the loop. It will take you to HWY 259. Once at the 259 intersection, head north to Beavers Bend State Park.

If you take a right at the four-way stop sign by the Shell station, it will take you by the high school, hospital, and Idabel Country Club. Stay on this road and it will turn into HWY 259. This will lead you to Broken Bow and Beavers Bend State Park.

 

Dallas Eastern Suburbs - Directions:

If you live in Dallas or near I-30, stay on 1-30 until you reach Mt. Vernon, TX. Here you will take HWY 37 north all the way to Idabel. You will than follow the directions found in the two paragraphs above.
